The ’89 girls are one of the most successful teams in club history having achieved the following:
• Mississippi State Champions: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007
• Mississippi State Finalist: 2004
• Southern Premier League Champions: 2004 and 2005
* 2005 Southern Regional Quarterfinalist
• Southern Premier League Finalist- 2006
In 2004, MRUSC and RUFC merged to form Mississippi United. 11 of the players from that team are still members of the team today. They are: Emily Crosswhite, Katie Dennis, Heather Roberson, Kendal Lee, Janet Self, Perryn Tyler, Rachel Emfinger, Sarah Prevost, Candace Duke, Hollye Henderson and Becca Mauldin.
Six players on the team have been playing since U11 including Perryn Tyler, Sarah Prevost, Rachel Emfinger, and Candace Duke at RUFC and Heather Roberson and Emily Crosswhite at MRUSC.
In addition, Emileigh Selman was on the original U11 RUFC team and played through U14 and is now on the U18 team. Kendal Lee and Janet Self joined the RUFC team at U12 along with Katie Dennis who joined that same year with MRUSC.
The team has competed in tournaments in 11 states and been ranked in the Top 25 in their age division by Got Soccer and National Soccer Rankings and in the Top 10 Regionally.
All of the players have been outstanding high school players and eight will be playing in the Mississippi Coaches Association All Star game this summer representing 5 different high schools. They are:
• Heather Roberson and Emily Crosswhite – Madison Central
• Sarah Prevost and Rachel Emfinger- Brandon High School
• Hollye Henderson and Kendal Lee - Clinton HS
• Candace Duke- Florence High School
• Janet Self- St. Joseph Catholic School
In addition, Perryn Tyler just completed her freshman year at Ole Miss as a member of the women’s soccer team where she had an outstanding year.
