Christopher Williams, Under 17 Boys White Team to Train with Chicago Fire

Chicago FIRE Juniors 90B White EURO Champs in Spain

The MS United U16 Boys along with coaches Kenny White, Josh Montgomery, Casey Chiasson, & Matt Convertino left last Sunday for their European
World Cup trip. They started the trip off in Barcelona, Spain where they have been playing in the Copa Maresma Tournament.

The Mississippi United Soccer Club (MUSC) U16 Boys team returned from Barcelona, Spain on June 14, 2006 after winning the 2006 U17 Euro-SPORTRING International Tournament. The team received a Gold Cup for the championship and a trophy for the tournament's Sportmanship Award. The team represented their club, the State of Mississippi and MYSA in a very positive way.

MUSC defeated nine different teams from Spain, Germany and Ireland in going 9-0 to win the championship.

MUSC was coached by Kenny White, the Director of Coaching at MUSC. His assistant coaches were Casey Chiasson, Josh Montgomery and Matt Convertino. Player assistants were Hunter Hood and David Lucas.

The team visited sites in Germany, Spain and The Netherlands while also attending the World Cup.

Fire Juniors Youth Development Program Expands into MS.

Chicago Fire Soccer and a trio of youth soccer organizations in the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area - Mississippi United Soccer Club of the Jackson metro area, South Madison County Soccer Organization of Ridgeland and Madison and Northwest Rankin Athletic Association of Flowood - announced a partnership that established the fourth branch of the Fire Youth Development Program's official youth club system, Chicago Fire Juniors - Mississippi. Chicago Fire assistant coach and Chicago Fire Juniors Assistant Director of Coaching Daryl Shore and Fire defender and Chicago Fire Juniors club coach C.J. Brown attended the press conference formally announcing the partnership, held this afternoon at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, MS.

Rachel Givan to receive All American Awards at NSCAA Convention

Later this month Rachel Givan will be attending the 59th Annual NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches of America Association) Convention in Philadelphia, PA to receive four of soccer's most prestigous awards. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America is the entity that awards the College All Americans and the Herman Award which is the soccer version of the Heisman award in football. They also award Youth and High School All Americans. Rachel was awarded the NSCAA/Adidas High School "State Player of the Year "award (Mississippi) from recommendations  of coaches in Mississippi. Based on recommendations from the Southern Region she was awarded the NSCAA/Adidas, High School "All South Region Team" award  (1st team). Based on recommendations nationally, she was awarded the NSCAA/Adidas  "High School All American" award. She was also awarded NSCAA's top honor, the elite NSCAA/Adidas "Youth All America" award based entirely on national reputation. This is the second consecutive year she has been awarded the NSCAA's top award. The gathering of coaches  is largest soccer convention in the world. The honorees will include the College, Youth And High School All Americans. Congratulations Rachel on these outstanding accomplishments. Keep up the great work!

US Youth Soccer ODP a Common Thread Among Women’s Team in Beijing
Nominate a Responsible Coach for a Responsible Coaching Award by August 31st!
Now that the US Youth Soccer National Championships are over, it is important to reflect on the season and give thanks to these individuals who consistently give their time and energy to create a positive youth soccer experience. Many of these mentors face tough expectations: teaching the game of soccer, ensuring players safety, providing equal playing time, and guiding their team to victory. But when a youth soccer coach, the assistant coaches, club administrators and the entire soccer community place character, sportsmanship and the young soccer athletes' well-being before wins, they demonstrate a level of responsibility that deserves recognition.

"Our Mick"
   
Mick Fullerton a member of the Mississippi Fire '90/U18 Boys White team was killed Thursday, November 1  in an accident that also took the life of his 14 year old sister, Caitlin. Mick was an original team member having joined the team when it formed at U11 and had anchored the back line since that time. He was admired by his teammates for many things including his loyalty to his friends and family, his work ethic and his love of the game. He was also a member of the Northwest Rankin High School team. Caitlin was also a student at Northwest Rankin High School. Mick and Caitlin are survived by their parents, Jay and Elaine Fullerton and brother, Will.  Jay, Elaine, Mick and Caitlin traveled together as a family to soccer events all across the country. Jay is the travel coordinator for the 18B White and was the driving force behind organizing the  '90 Boys European tour in 2006.


An account has been established at Bancorp South to honor Mick and Caitlin which Jay and Elaine will use for soccer scholarships for those who loved the game like Mick and have the enthusiasm for it that Caitlin did.
